We build capacity by guiding and mentoring staff so they can continue what we start or we advise clients on the resource they need to achieve their goals and help them recruit.
Skills development and mentoring
Strategic input from consultants can add real value, particularly when you need a fresh perspective, but there is no doubt that day-to-day tasks can be fulfilled more cost-effectively by in-house staff, provided you have the right skills. Often our clients have no in-house communications resource but sometimes they have a member of staff who is a natural communicator, keen to get involved.
If you have a team member with an aptitude for communications, we can help build capacity by giving him/her the skills needed to handle a range of tasks, from managing your website and maintaining your engagement in social networks to identifying and maximising case study opportunities.
We can either lead training sessions or provide hands-on guidance to someone learning ‘on the job’.
Recruiting the right person
We have helped clients in a wide range of sectors to develop or recruit marketing and communications staff. We can work with you to draft job specifications, help with screening applications and sit on the interview panel. We will give you an independent view, informed by what we know of the market and your needs.
Marcie and her associates really helped develop my communications skills, especially in terms of building my confidence in writing engaging social media content. Before working with the Foundry House I had never used social media as a communication tool and with the training given I can now confidently find and write content that will engage our followers and donors. I also learnt a lot about design and website content management through the re-branding process. Working with Marcie was enjoyable and very easy and she taught me skills that are transferable to any job. I would highly recommend her and her associates to any organisation wishing to develop in-house communication skills.
